Jack and Tim .co.uk - Tim Gauntlett

Tim Gauntlett is from Petworth in West Sussex and has been climbing since he was 14. His adventures started on a bicycle. His cycling highlights were John O'Groats to Land's End at 15 years of age and cycling from London to York (roughly 380 kilometres) in a day.
His lust for adventure was largely inspired by his older brother Rob (www.robgauntlett.com).

Having not got the grades he had wanted in his A-Levels, Tim is currently studying at Manchester doing a foundation year for engineering. Next year Tim will start his actual degree course in Chemical Engineering (provided he passes this year's exams) and he is hoping to emerge from university in 2014 (years time!) with a Master in Chemical Engineering (M.Chem) and then go on to work for an energy company researching renewable energy resources.

In the meantime, in August'09 he will be cycling from John O'Groat's to Land's End in memory of his brother who he lost in January (which has left him devastated, but very much inspired at the same time).

He has applied to run the London Marathon next year, raising money for Cancer Research UK. Fingers crossed, he will get a place as it is a major milestone in his lifetime ambitions and will put in good stead for the Ironman he plans to do in August 2010! He is currently training hard (running and swimming regularly) in order to stand a chance of competing next year.
